This year has been incredibly and unforgettably life-changing. We say it because it's true. We learned the ins and outs of a new language; we explored the nuances a new culture, and we searched the many nooks and crannies of a new country. Most importantly, however, we met each other. Each of us now has a dedicated host-family, 70 classmates, 14 staff members, and many Spanish friends who we'll be able to rely on for love, support, and advice for the rest of our lives. We have all grown, matured, and as we are now finding out, changed in unexpected ways. Being back is difficult, and missing each other is inevitable, but what's important to remember is that we had this year. We created a story that will be forever ours.
Note: The final phrase, "colorín colorado, este cuento se ha acabado," is the traditional ending for Spanish-language children's story. The closest English corresponding phrase would be "And that's that" or "And that's all folks"
