Highway Situation is the 2010 urban design music video from Lyndon Lorenz, driving the boards as Lyn Faber in this latest Vimeo premiere.
The Prelinger Archive at archive.org/details/prelinger supplied a truckload of free public domain stock footage, including:
-- Freedom Of The American Road (1955) for the speaking speakers
-- Going Places (1948) and The Changing City (1960?) for the color traffic clips
-- Cities: How They Grow (1952) for the map of the USA
-- Streamlines (1936) for that great shot of the futuristic city
The original music was framed out in GarageBand using the AMG library, and then imported into iMovie HD, where some extra audio post-production got slapped up good while mixing in the video. After the initial frame-out, a midnight trip to Sullivan's in Hoboken resulted in three beers and some Van Halen, and then it was back to the lab at 2am for more work until 4 in the morning. After waking up at 7, editing continued until the whole darn thing was painfully birthed (coffee after beer isn't really a good idea) by 3pm.
Special props to Henry Ford II and Westbrook Van Voorhees, who make appearances they probably never planned on.

And now I'm going back to bed.
