I have a question Mr Labrada, I was drinking a Labrada Lean Body on The Go in the changing rooms at my gym yesterday and ended up in a discussion with a runner who said that a high protein diet is bad for your bones.

Can you shed any light on the subject for me, I'd like to be armed with a proper response when I see her next.

Hey Peter, thanks for your question. I'm sure this runner was well meaning, but let's deal with the facts, first and foremost : There is absolutely no peer reviewed data to suggest that protein has a negative impact on bone health, density or strength.

In fact there are studies, including one published in the American Journal of Clinical nutrition, which showed a small but noteworthy IMPROVEMENT in bone health from higher protein diets.

Bottom line, a high quality protein supplement is an essential component in building muscle mass, cartilage, skin and blood. Hundreds of studies show protein to have a beneficial effect on lean muscle mass, improving the immune system, decreasing body fat and improving overall health.
