The Ocean Breeze Community Builds a Hurricane Sandy Memorial-
Residents of the Ocean Breeze community have come together to honor two storm victims in their own neighborhood who lost their lives during Hurricane Sandy last year. At the corner of Buel Avenue and Quincy Avenue, a stone has been placed bearing the names of the fallen, who had resided on those two streets.
Future Housing Construction on Staten Island-
For the week of October 6th through October 12th, nineteen residential permits were accepted for future Staten Island homes. Most of these homes are in the Mid-Island section, and one is on the South Shore. Watch to learn more about these planned developments.
Brownfield Opportunity Areas to Receive Large Grants-
Recently New York State Governor Cuomo announced that twenty-six communities in New York State will be given grants to revitalize brownfield sites. Two of these communities are located in Staten Island. What exactly are brownfield areas, and which parts of Staten Island will soon be changing for the better? Stay tuned to find out.
Outerbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridge Construction Update-
Resurfacing of the Outerbridge Crossing is finally complete, providing much relief for evening commuters. The Goethals Bridge permit was recently accepted, so construction on the new bridge should commence in the near future.
