What does it mean to be filled? Brent Phillips-Encounter Houston
Habakkuk 3:2 “I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.”
We see that if God did it then through his people; than He can still do it today through his people. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Spirit of God enables us to do things that seem impossible. But, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to do those impossible things
God has given us an appetite for the impossible. Jesus spent three years training his disciples how to nurture that appetite by expecting God to do amazing things and then doing the impossible things through the Spirit of God.
However, we can we limit Gods work in and through our life because of our unbelief.
Hebrews 3:15,19: 15“Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” 19 So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.”
God’s promises are available but they aren’t automatic.
Hebrews 8:6 “But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.”
We have been upgraded to a better covenant and better promises through Jesus Christ. But in order to see the greater things we must make the choice to have faith in order that we might see.
