HEAL! is a photographic series about coming home, PTSD & canine companions.
The mission: help heal Veterans, rescue and save canines' lives, and call on government to act in support of service dogs for veterans with invisible wounds, such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Service dogs partnered with veterans struggling with invisible wounds is a therapeutic option to help save and heal veterans.
HEAL! aims to use the power of photography, video, and interviews to boost awareness of veterans struggling with PTSD and TBI as well as programs that provide service dogs to assist their healing and help get them back out into their communities.
Through the website, video, exhibitions, and social media, we are reaching out to veterans with service dogs to be part of the project and add more to the repository of images and stories. As these powerful stories circulate, other veterans in need can learn about service dogs and the programs that are providing these human-canine partnerships.
22 U.S. Veterans commit suicide every day.
