In celebration of the newly restored pipe organ a special organ choral Mass will be said at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn, October 26th; Prelude Begins at 4:30pm. This Latin Mass makes a grand effect – making full use of all of the pipe organ’s resources.
Whether you are coming to Catholic Mass or want to experience great music, all are welcome. There is no charge to attend, just come early so you get a seat.
The Salvatones’ a visiting professional choral ensemble of 14 will sing the Mass under the direction of Daniel Brondel, Associate Director of Music at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Stephen Tharp a Concert Organist and the Associate Director of Music at Church of Our Saviour in New York will accompany the Mass that evening.

As a Prelude to the Mass, organist Stephen Tharp will play Maurice Duruflé’s Prelude and Fugue on the name ALAIN and the choir will sing Charles Villiers Stanford’s Te Deum in B-flat. The postlude is William Walton’s Crown Imperial. There will be plenty of terrific hymns sung by all. Other compositions by Edward Elgar, Gabriel Fauré and Daniel Brondel.
The guest homilist that evening is Fr. Joel Warden Pastor of Saint Boniface Church. Fr. Joel is not only an extraordinary preacher, but is also an organist.
