“Saying, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen!
In this vision of the last days John is granted a vision of heaven with a great multitude of people from all over the world praising God. The image here is astounding – a multitude that no one could number clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands crying out to God in a loud voice. What a sight!
There is going to be much worship in heaven. We will be thanking God on a regular basis. In the vision this multitude ascribes God as the source of all good things: honor, power, strength, blessing, etc.
It appears we have barely scratched the surface of how magnificent and awesome He really is. We will have eternity to thank Him and worship Him and we won’t get tired.
Since worship and thanksgiving will be a big part of our future – we might as well get started now. We think about thanking God during the thanksgiving season but evidently that “season” will turn into a regular full time event in eternity.
The Book of Revelation has always been such a challenge for me to read. But this year as I have read it again I have been struck with how powerful and awesome God is and how much worship and thanksgiving is a part of heaven.
I want to be one who is overflowing with thanksgiving now while on earth. It’s a mind shift and an acquired habit but certainly one worth learning. I am getting a head start on heaven by thanking God now.
Thank you Father, You are worthy of all the thanksgiving and worship and praise that I can offer. More than a November ritual, it’s something I’ll do from now through eternity.
