Written and directed by Gillian McIver.
“Postindustrial Baroque” was initially going to be a film about urban exploration. But soon it became clear that these strange forays into the unknown places on our city streets were a poetic journey, not a documentary.
Inspired by Gaston Bachelard's Poetics of Space, the film explores the lived experience of architectures and urban landscapes. We find what Henri Lefebvre has called the “special, still sacred, quasi-religious and in fact almost absolute” territory within the marginal wastes of the city.
Strange encounters, performative acts, explorations and sojourns in unusual places.
