In this week’s CTA Brussels video interview, Kalilou Sylla, Executive Secretary, ROPPA, West Africa, tells us more about the Maputo Declaration on Agriculture and Food Security and the 10 percent national budget allocation to agriculture development.
Sylla gives an update about the implementation and progress of Maputo commitments. He says we witness a clear change in West African agriculture, but we are still waiting to see the impact on the ground. He states that while the commitment to allocate at least 10 percent of national budgetary resources to agriculture and rural development policy implementation is actually met by several country, in many cases the major part of the funding comes from external donors.
On the 2nd October 2013, Kalilou Sylla held a presentation on “the progress of Maputo commitments towards agriculture in West Africa” as part of the Brussels Briefing on the ‘Drivers of success for agricultural transformation in Africa’ organized by CTA Brussels at the Borschette Congress Center in Brussels.
