"The City of Gold" is my senior exhibition project for graduation from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia. In order to graduate, I was required to present an idea before a panel of Art department professors for a project that I would work on for an entire semester. Several weeks before, I had stumbled upon a time lapse film of Yosemite National Park, and was immediately inspired to create a similar film for the town that I have grown to know and love. Every frame that you see is a still picture...none of what you watch was actually recorded as video. In total, there are more than 5000 pictures in this 4 minute video. I am completely self-taught when it comes to time lapse and video in general. I don't do this for a living (not even close, actually) unlike many other time lapse photographers and cinematographers. I had no sponsorships for this project, although I hope that it might lead to negotiations with the city of Dahlonega about purchasing the rights to this film or commissioning me to make one to their specifications.
