I worked closely with a regional fashion designer to learn the entire design and execution process. I learned how to
harness the creative process and translate creative inspirations into a design portfolio. Additional coursework included pattern making and detailed sewing instruction.
Fashion Summer Institute, NYC July 2012
During this month long program, I worked with faculty from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in the mornings, refining my sewing and design skills. Afternoons were spent meeting with working designers and fashion industry executives throughout New York City.

I was the sole costume designer and creator for the musical
“All Shook Up” performed by the Risley Residential Theatre Company.

I was responsible for organizing and supervising a crew of up to 40 students that provided the design, material purchase, and sewing of costumes for three Harriton Theater Company productions each year.
I also organized lessons in sewing technique, costume design, stage make-up and hair design. I acted as costume designer, wardrobe supervisor, and dresser. In addition I maintained the costumes room, organized the costume use during each show, trouble shot costume ‘emergencies’, organized all ‘quick changes’ during the show and maintained the costume budget. I was also responsible for props, stage make-up and hair styling for all productions.

Production Coordinator, Mr. Harriton Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Under the auspices of Student Council, I helped produce Mr. Harriton, a male ‘beauty pageant,’ and Harriton’s biggest fundraiser. I directed rehearsals and worked backstage with the contestants to ensure everything ran smoothly. I also handled the stage makeup and wardrobe for all the contestants. My senior year we raised over $13,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia!
Production Coordinator, Dance Off Grades 10, 11, 12
The Harriton Dance Off is a dance competition that raises money for the Alvin Ailey Dance Fund, which helps inner-city youth by providing dance training. I was responsible for the overall running of the event including costuming all the dancers and applying their performance make-up. Senior year we raised over $3000.
