Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced the County’s purchase of new recovery and rescue equipment that is critical in sustaining the level of response during weather-related emergencies. County Executive Mangano was joined by officials from the Police Department and Office of Emergency Management. Purchases include solar-powered traffic signal trailers and message signs that will not fail during power outages; high-axel vehicles; and new radios that will improve communications between first responders.
County Executive Mangano also announced that Nassau County has been designated as “Storm Ready” by the National Weather Service. In order to qualify for this designation, communities must have established prescribed criteria for meeting a crisis.
