Victoria Cuba, a senior at Waipahu High School, is homeless. She lives with her family in their car at a beach in Ewa. She is one of 1,566 homeless children in Hawaii.
Her family was previously homeless in 2008, when they resided in a junk yard. Victoria talks about the stigma of being homeless while attending school. However, she is not letting her living situation get in the way of taking opportunities for success. She is currently enrolled in Waipahu High School's early college program, through a partnership with UH West Oahu and Leeward Community College. (She is taking History 151 and hopes to take English 100 next semester.) Victoria hopes to go to college to pursue a career in the film industry. Her message to the HIKI NO audience: "There are people who are always worse off than you are. You have to remember that you live a good life."
