Roughly 100 owner-operator truck drivers staged demonstration at the Port of Oakland on Monday, Oct. 21, halting the flow of commerce for most of the day. The drivers stated that long lines at some of the port's terminals were cutting into their profits, and that environmental regulations due to be implemented at the end of the year would force some of them out of work. Their protests attracted the support of about 40 other activists, many of whom met during Occupy Oakland actions.
