Maghalie Dooms finds her inspiration for her projects in her own thinking and personal experience. The first step in her research consists of archiving anything she can find on the subject: images, materials, texts, colours, techniques, structures, textures, etc. This goes on for the duration of the research process. Meanwhile she compiles an inspiration board with the documentation she has collected such as the materials, colours, photographs, and little experiments which she has either collected or created herself. This inspiration board
consequently changes as her work evolves. Maghalie experiments with materials, techniques, patterns and textures in order to create her fabrics and images. A number of the techniques she uses are screen printing, glassblowing, digital silk printing, manual weaving, machine weaving, laser cutting, needle punching, manual knitting and machine knitting. Maghalie is constantly searching for new and innovative materials and techniques which she can combine into new aesthetic imagery, materials or products.
