I was asked if I had any ideas for a cheap DIY shoulder mount rig that was easy to put together and cheap.
If you're not a DIY'er check out this neat $24.00 dollar Shoulder Mount.
I also have another more discreet $15 DIY Stabilizer at:
This shoulder mount is not recommended for heavy cameras, but for small consumer-cams, I think it's a great DIY Video Camera Shoulder Mount Project.
Aluminum Flat bar (bend it to fit over the shoulder).
Foam insulation (used for shoulder padding)
Metal 'T' Bracket (combine this with the flat bar)
Handles (I used Jump rope handles because they already had an easy way to mount it to the bracket)
Black Appliance Epoxy paint (much stronger than acrylic)
A few nuts and bolts to hold everything in place.
I think you'll get the idea....
What's next? Hmm..
Quick release camera mount. External monitor for offset viewing. Weights in the back for balance. Shotgun mic over the right handle. LED lighting over the left handle. Double the 'T' Bracket (more rigid). Handle over the top for low flying shots. Might even try to add a remote to the right hand to start and stop video.
I'm interested in seeing if this is of interest to anyone, let me know if you ever get one built out, drop me a comment or message. Might be good for a Flip MinoHD , Kodak , HV20 / HV30 / Vixia, Vado , Webbie , etc.
