By the age of 11 years old, homelessness was Jeff’s reality.
A bright, highly intelligent young man, he knew his very survival depended on living apart from his single, drug-addicted parent. Being cold and hungry and couch surfing was the norm for Jeff by the time he was 17 years old. Sleeping in trees, camping on golf courses and hiding in the school until everyone left for the day ensured Jeff's survival.
Today, through Canvas Health’s Homeless Youth Program, Jeff not only has a job, a car and a home, he has the healing support to create his future.
An advanced student, Jeff is also completing his college degree at the University of Minnesota. Three months ago Jeff officially adopted his baby brother to ensure he has hope and a brighter future too.
