The fire alarm at my news station went off while were live on-air, and stayed that way past the end of the hour-long broadcast. Our morningside photographer was out shooting breaking a breaking story, so, in-between my other duties, I decided to take my Nikon D3100 and shoot video of the 'emergency' just in case it turned out to be real news.
Ended up doing this PKG on it--first time scripting a story, myself, and thankful to my anchor coworker for being a good sport about doing the narration for me.
This is NOT the version of the story that appeared on-air, however; there were parts I had to cut out that I really liked, and I wanted to add just a bit more polish to it for posterity. (The original can be found here: wgno.com/2013/10/25/fire-alarm-disrupts-live-tv-broadcast/#axzz2jRcnrYgg)
