When we are advocating for animals we may find ourselves summoning up arguments we’ve come across for thinking we have moral obligations to animals. But is this an effective way to talk about animal issues? In this session we will think about shortcomings of this approach and we’ll explore ways of engaging that draw on the strategy behind the successful Minnesotans United for All Families campaign.
Jeff Johnson is an assistant professor of philosophy at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul, where he regularly teaches courses on animal ethics and on the ethics of eating animals in particular. Jeff also volunteers for and serves on the board of directors of Compassionate Action for Animals.
