This is a story about a young man Vitaly – an anti-war activist and anarchist from Belarus. Every Saturday morning for more than 5 years (since 2007) Vitaly and a few of his friends cook food on their own initiative to serve it to poor people of Minsk.
This short documentary is a mix of photography, video and graphics – with emphasis on photography. The primary intent of creating this story is a desire to share an impressive and inspiring example of daily solidarity with people in need. It tells about the social movement that works under pressure of local authorities like many other initiatives in Belarus do nowadays.
Such kind of activism is also the way to reveal the enormous number of people in need, people who can’t afford a hot meal. It is not just a charity. This act of non-violent direct action is a personal attempt of activists to build a better society to live in — based on equality, solidarity and non-commercial affairs.
