It was the back of her head that first got me interested. Sat in front of me I could see her perfectly sculpted fashion bob and high collar moving with laughter. Then, the wonderful slight of her sucking on her cigarette holder. The lights go dim for the show and she had gone by the time the joint was alight again. Those cheekbones were what next to entranced me when meeting by chance on an autumn evening, moonlight above. She was trying to keep her cloche hat a place on her head, fighting against the wind. Then, she was gone, flash, whoosh around the corner of an ally way. Standing in line to catch the new movie “Orphan Rescues Grandfather,” there she was in front, touching up her lipstick in her compact. I duck down slightly to hopefully and finally get a glimpse of the face that has been teasing me for weeks. When, like a blushing fool I catch her eye in the mirror. ‘Snap’ the compact closes and as if in slow motion she turns to look straight at me. Flabbergasted, I lose my words. Unexpectedly, the silence is broken with the sweet sound of her voice, ‘Do you like what you see?’
