This is a video slideshow of our visit to Tulum, a Pre-Columbian Mayan city in Quintaroo, Mexico. The cliffs in the photos are about 40 feet above sea level. At one time Tulum was thought to have been called Zama, which means City of Dawn. Tulum itself is Mayan word meaning wall. Quite appropriate as this ancient city was surrounded by a wall supposedly for defence and as we were told by our guide, to separate the classes... lower class outside, upper-class inside. Now it appears to welcome all classes. As this civilization is shrouded in mystery, we thought Alice Gomez's music was appropriate.
