During a recent trip to my niece's wedding, I had the opportunity to participate, observe, and think about family. Family is, at best, a complex issue. For some of us, you can't live without them. For others of us, you can't live with them. And if your family is anything like ours, you get both categories. (Insert smiley face here for the overly sensitive, idealistic family members)
Jesus doesn't help us out very much with how we deal with our biological families. In fact, he seemingly makes it more complex. Jesus came from a complicated family situation, so he understands "family dynamics". And yet, he seeks to change the view of family, in a very family centered culture.
So, how is that going to play in our culture where we seem so focused on the family?
