Between 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, there was a spooky invasion of the Carle main campus. First, there was a reported sighting of a vampire. Then a pirate. And even a superhero.
In all, about 98 children dressed up for Halloween to frighten employees on North Clinic 6, the 2nd floor of South Clinic, the Research Institute, the Cancer Center atrium, the Optical, Oral Surgery, Digestive Health and Infection Control departments, and even North Tower 7.
The trick-or-treaters meandered over from The Caring Place and Carle Auditory Oral School. By the end of their visits not only did they earn their fair share of treats, but they also brightened the day of many employees.
“Actually, it’s a lot of work for the adults, but it is very fun, too, and in the spirit of Halloween,” said Bernadette Tiemann, director of The Caring Place. “It is rewarding to see excited children, excited staff and even visitors to the hospital when they get to see all of the kids in costume.”
If a picture says a thousand words, this video surely tells the whole story of the Halloween spirit that captured Carle.
