Live Drawing and Poetry Reading of Pablo Neruda Poem 20 "Tonight I can write the Saddest Lines" Read in English with English subtitles" by writer, recording artist, book author, and poetry enthusiast, Roberto Dabdoub Sosa This particular poem was recited a Special "Cultural week" presentation at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Neruda, was a Nobel laureate poet from Chile. The movie "The Postman," "El Cartero," "Il Postino," was an Italian film (1994) directed by Michael Radford. It portrays the period when the Poet was exiled on a small island off the coast of Italy. This is my humble tribute to the poet and this beautiful movie. I recited the same poem in Spanish and Italian. (You can search it on line)
Spanish speaking "Declamadores" have a different approach how they read Poetry. They often memorize the poem to recite it. It's just a different style of conveying the poetic feeling; Little emphasis on rhythm. That's How Pablo Neruda probably used to hear his poetry being read in Chile.
