Las Calaveras. We invited over 50 artists to either paint or modify a skull, or create skull inspired artwork. We’re hanging everything as I write this and quite a few memories are flooding back. While this is the first show we’ve thrown at this space, this has been the DNA of the brand since the beginning.
When we came up with the brand and the store/gallery back in 2005 we made it a central focus to throw group art shows with the main focus of bringing large groups of artists together and build a sense of community. Many late nights were spent setting up the show and waiting on the last minute submissions to arrive.
We threw our first Las Calaveras show over 7 years ago. It, along with our Permanent Show, were our most successful so it felt right to kick off this space during Halloween season with the return of Las Calaveras.
The response from the artists have been amazing and were grateful that we have the chance to bring so many talented people together under one roof.
Make sure you head out to the show tonight and see the pieces for yourself!
