For the production of Grant Wakefield's 2k widescreen film REMNANTS and 4k immersive FullDome planetarium film ANCIENT SKIES, a 3-stage, portable 12ft video dolly was adapted and motorised for motion controlled timelapse tracking.
This reel demonstrates the various stages of development and testing.
High-end moco systems like Kessler and Dynamic Perception simply weren't available at the time, nor had enough power to pull two cameras over extended track lengths in order to sufficiently change perspective shooting FullDome.
The on-screen projected results, even in the biggest theatres, were outstanding.
Huge thanks to Bryan Mumford for his help in developing the system - software and power - and to engineer Martin Hannant for his hardware adaptations of the cart and camera mounts.
