Spring 2013, Chase County in the Flint Hills. Not the time of year for tornado's, but culture in the area is rapidly changing. There are still cowboys left, not many, and living a different kind of life. Agriculture is on its retreat. Empty, often broken silo's are silent witnesses of a cultural misunderstanding of the natural landscape. I chose to swing my camera as if a lariat to investigate the area.
This film is made during a residency in Matfield Greens eARTh-program, many thanks to Ton Haak & Ans Zoutenbier , Anne Ausloos, and Bill Mac Bride for their hospitality, guidance, and insights.
