Running is fun, so why not run somewhere with an interesting view ? My colleagues Tomoyuki Mukasa and Kei Kojima ran with me up Daimonji-yama, a small mountain in Kyoto, every other sunday. We are artificial intelligence researchers from Kyoto University.
The run takes about 20 minutes and at the end you are rewarded with spectacular views across Kyoto. Almost all of it is up so it is very tough. Our motto is "Don't stop". Walking is OK but you must never stop. Kudos to Mukasa-san and Kojima-san for answering my questions in English when they were exhausted.
We recorded this video over 2007-2009, merging several different clips. All capture, editing and processing was done with free software, mostly mencoder, and also some tools I wrote myself. The musical excerpt is Out of the Sunrise by Joe Satriani.
What you don't see is the steep road leading from Shirakawa-dori past Ginkakuji and to the car park, hence Kojima-san's comment about being tired before doing any running.
