Each year, my church here in Lexington, Kentucky offers an amazing event for those who face lifelong mental or physical challenges. It's called Jesus Prom, and approximately 950 "prommers" gathered to dance, play games, eat, be pampered and loved by more than 1500 volunteers who join in the fun and cater to their every need.
The event is organized by Southland Christian Church and also included a makeup stations, professional photo booths, a live band, a magic show, and immeasurable amounts of smiles and laughter from everyone in attendance.
So why does Southland put on such a large-scale event like this at absolutely no cost to the attendees? Luke 14 (verses 13-14) says, "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
