'Typographia', an art installation with performance by Diana Scarborough recalls the workings of a hot metal type Monotype Print Machine. The successful premiere took place on the 31st October, 2013 at the Festival of Ideas, Cambridge. Contemporary dance students Becky Byers, Kristina Hay and Andrzej Kamienski and costume designer Isabel Byers have collaborated with lead artist Diana Scarborough to create an original work. This video contains the sound track and projected digital visuals used on the night. It was augmented by slide projections and live performance by contemporary dancers. Music for the Act 1 has been composed by Dr Christopher Dexter-Mills and played by the Edmund Quintet. The remaining tracks and visuals were accompanied by dance. Music and sound includes an extract of a track from Steve Reich's album 'Different Trains', print machine operation and footage taken from a 1947 training film (copyright free) from the Prelinger archives.
