The partnership with The Smith Family (TSF) began in 2006. The school is a low socio-economic status school with a significant proportion of disadvantaged students, including a large number of Indigenous and ESL students. It was experiencing high levels of behaviour incident reports and anti-social behaviour when The Smith Family approached the school with an offer to help create improved wellbeing and academic proficiency.
Among other things, the partnership aims to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of students by increasing their motivation and sense of achievement. It also aims to increase parents’ knowledge of and involvement in the school so they can support their children’s learning and efforts.
