Fe Guy came to the ABC Wide Bay office to let us know media were pronouncing the Philippines city of Tacloban wrong.
After chatting with Fe and her husband Robert, I found out Fe was originally from a small village Abijao, around 50 kilometres west of Tacloban City. For several days Fe had been seeing the devastating vision from her home island of Leyte after Typhoon Haiyan struck.
Concerned for her two brothers (Pepito and Marlon Roque), family and friends still living on Leyte Island, Fe has been trying to make contact but with no luck. I tracked down some numbers for Fe and today she will continue to attempt to reach them.
I asked Fe if she would like to record a video of her thoughts and a message to home.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has set up a 24-hour emergency helpline for people concerned about relatives in the path of Typhoon Haiyan. The number is 1300 555 135.
Typhoon Haiyan: How can I help?
