"Invading Ants – what can be done?," by Rob Plowes
Two problematic species of invasive ants are routinely seen around Austin (red imported fire ants and tawny crazy ants). Rob Plowes will explain how one UT research program is trying to understand more of their biology, hopefully leading to opportunities for sustainable biological control.
Rob is an African-raised biologist with broad interests in biodiversity and conservation, currently working at the UT Brackenridge Field Station. His approach to science integrates tools from molecules and microbes to communities and landscapes.
