This film shows extracts from a site-specific public art work made by Anna Macdonald in July 2013 in Archway, London. It was commissioned as part of A Million Minutes, produced by AIR at Central Saint Martins with funding from Arts Council England and Islington Council.
The piece involved a dancer, and someone from the local area, being watched by one audience member at a time through a converted shop window. The work looked at the pleasure of being seen, the romance of communicating across a distance and the complexities of sharing something of your self with another person.
The performance happened over sixty times over a ten day residency and involved four dancers and ten people from the area. It is a development of 'Window works', a project I have been working with since 2010 - see forecastdance.org for more information about this.
