Conversations in Lower Marsh
Lambeth Treasure Exhibition
2013 Festival of Neighbourhood at Southbank Centre
Interviewer, Gemma Drake spoke to the shopkeepers about their relationship with the street, what it is like as a location to do business in and the people they interact with day to day in Lower Marsh. The interviews offer an insight into a tight-knit community with strong friendships, family connections and support for each other during times of change. These stories accompanied shop portraits in the exhibition taken by Briony Campbell.
New Business on Lower Marsh: Conversation with Lucy Newman Cleeve from Man and Eve
Lucy talks about her experience moving to a street with such a diversity of shops and specialist traders “it’s a wonderful antidote to the bland homogenous high streets you find up and down the country." She joined other designers and makers moving to the area but shares concern in how it is being developed and the needs to keep businesses viable.
