A traffic signal detector insensitive to bicycles and a clueless motorists result in having to wait almost 6 minutes for a green signal on 83rd Street and Lincoln Boulevard in the Manchester neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The motorists also mistook my rear red blinking light (for added conspicuousness) mounted slightly left of center as a left-turn indicator. So now I mount it dead center to avoid confusion.
I usually don't have a problem tripping traffic signals in L.A., But that may be because there are usually cars near me that are detected. So detectors insensitive to bicyclists may be more common in L.A. than I had thought.
