How does a wind turbine work?

Jersey Electricity

Wind turbines work by turning the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy for us to use in our house and businesses, using propellor-like blades.

Wind flows across the blades of a turbine, and as it does it creates a difference in air pressure across the two sides of the blade. This causes lift and drag, and results in the blades turning around.

The turning of the blades spins a generator inside the wind turbine, and creates electricity.
