Established in 2001, Beacon of Light is a non-profit charity organization that works for the betterment of people in Sirajgonj district of Bangladesh. Due to climate change and it's location (on the bank of Jamuna river), the land is subjected to soil erosion. Increasing water levels causes the river to swell and flood and erode nearby land.
Started in 2007, the Beacon of Light Tree Planting Project plans to plant 100000 trees by mid 2010 and will continue until reaches it’s target of one million trees.
