This is a video I shot for a production of John Webster's 17th-century tragedy "The White Devil" I directed with my students at Hofstra University. In the play, Camillo is murdered (by vaulting-horse) at the behest of his wife's lover, who watches the murder on a kind of "magic mirror". The murders, and later a couple of ghosts, were shot on video, projected on a combination of 2 screens and 25 mismatched vintage television sets.
Featuring John Bahrenburg, Kevin Best, Drew Mackey, Nick Pacifico, Keith Pinault , Rich Traub, Chris Wentworth, Travis Youssef. Costumes by Meganne George. Lighting by Rych Curtiss. Fight choreography by Travis Youssef. Shot and edited by Royston Coppenger. Music courtesy Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
I tried in this video to emulate the look and feel of pre-WWI slapstick comedies. Shot in standard def on Canon XHA1s, stock lens. Edited in FCE using CGM's "Aged Film" filter.
