A photobook about the coincidental encounters and obliquities of everyday objects and collected fragments of aspects held by everyday life made by Maria L. Felixmüller and graphic designer Paul Bowler.
I like to accomplish the photobook GLORY DAYS. I am Maria L. Felixmüller, a Leipzig based artist and photographer. GLORY DAYS got shortlisted for the Dummy Award of the Fotobookfestival Kassel 2013 and now, I want to make my project come true and publish it with your help.
The pictures express the coincidental encounters of everyday objects. They are more than they appear when they don’t function as they are supposed to. My observation exposes the objects' vulnerability and they seem comical and crazy. And because I get asked often: Nothing is staged, the objects just find me.
GLORY DAYS - a high gloss magazine picture book
Two years ago I startet concepting with graphic designer Paul Bowler. Editing followed just one rule: Every page should be a new confronting, confusing view. Out of every juxtaposition results an unexpected association, and we avoided repetition of motifs or even colour schemes. So it was clear to us that it should be a pure and simple book, much like a children's picture book. The only suspension are some black pages, where the index is hidden. We decided to show the pictures all over the pages, right from the first to the last. We wanted it to look like a magazine, so paper and cover have a high gloss shimmer. For the double page it is important to open the book easily, so it comes with american binding.
I hope to raise 4000€ by crowdfunding to cover 60% of the costs to produce GLORY DAYS. It'll cost 7300€ to realise the project, and to this point I already have 2000€. So preordering the book is one option, but honestly, anything will help to accomplish the goal of getting this project realised and will be hugely appreciated!!! And if you can't afford financial support, linking, liking or spreading is also a huge help.
If the goal won’t entirely be reached, the publication won’t happen and of course, you get your money back.
For an edition of 300 books is planned. All raised money will be spent for color correction, printing and binding. Graphic designer Paul Bowler has been working for free to give the project a chance of getting realised and all the rewards will be paid for by myself.
