Internet on small screens is growing tremendously, and the number of pixels per square inch is exploding rapidly. It is increasingly difficult to fill all these pixels in all those sizes with traditional file formats GIF, JPEG and PNG. Vectors are not affected by pixels. With mathematical precision they scale effortlessly up and down on any screen, retina or not.
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) has become a first-class citizen in HTML5, but it's not a universally applicable solution yet. Jan went in search of the Holy Grail and loves to share his findings.
