Over the course of three weeks in September 2013, a train traveled from New York City to San Francisco, making nine stops at train stations across the country.
Organized by artist Doug Aitken, Station to Station connected leading figures and underground creators from the worlds of art, music, food, literature, and film for a series of cultural interventions and site-specific happenings. The train, designed as a moving, kinetic light sculpture, broadcasted unique content and experiences to a global audience.
Fake Love was tasked in reimagining four vintage tools to be placed on the train. We turn each object into a global connector. Each object had a story and was unique in it's own right- a 1939 Bolex Video Camera, 1939 Graphlex Still Camera, 1956 Gibson Guitar, and a 1901 Underwood Typewriter. Re-tooled to push digital moments from the cross country journey to creators worldwide.
