2018 Israel now 26yrs old and is a member of the Arts for a Better Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization inspired by him who’s mission is to prepare youth transitioning out of schools and orphanages in US and Mexico through therapeutic arts programs. Israel tells his story to young people in our programs in order to help believe in options while going through life’s challenges.
* This moment when Israel "El Pekas" stood up and waved at everyone is the moment Arts for a Better Tomorrow was born.
Israel "El Pekas" grew up in Sion orphanage in Tijuana and I've watched him grow up from 9 yrs to 19 yrs old when he was "aged out" of that orphanage. What I saw for myself was that he was not ready mentally or emotionally for life outside of the orphanage. This is why I developed the acting empowerment program “Breaking Barriers” that not only helps promote values but help teach them to feel, to problem solve and to transform while discovering themselves and the world around them. After this moment in 2011 i decided I need to do more. I launched Arts for a Better Tomorrow program "Breaking Barriers" in 2012.
