Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri Address At The Global Peace & Unity Conference (GPU) in London - 24th Nov 2013.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has asked the Western world to put an end to killing of innocent people in the name of international coalition against terrorism. He said that if any organization or group was indulging in terrorism and militancy in the name of Islam in any part of the world. It was their individual act, which had nothing to do with Islam. He said that terrorism in the name of the great faith represented negation of Islamic teachings and shared values of humanity.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the perpetrators of such crimes as terrorism and militancy should be brought to justice, adding in the same breath that the un-Islamic acts of certain groups and individuals should not be used as an excuse to punish and persecute innocent people. He said that it was responsibility of the Muslim world to take steps for imparting correct and original Islamic education to the youth so that they could not fall prey to indoctrination and propaganda of the extremists and terrorists.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while addressing thousands of participants at the global Peace and Unity Festival at Excel Centre on Sunday evening. The Festival was attended by renowned religious scholars, opinion makers, community leaders and politicians from across the world. Renowned Qura and Naat Khawans of international standing took part in the event. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was given a standing ovation upon his arrival in the Festival.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it was unfortunate that actions of terrorists and criminals were tagged with Islam and the Muslims, adding that the fact of the matter was that their actions were in stark violation of the teachings of Islam. He said that the militants were wrongly invoking the Islamic teachings to justify their inhuman and reprehensible actions. He said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) came to the world as a Prophet of mercy not only for the Muslims but also the entire humanity. He said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) taught his followers to love and respect humanity. He said that majority of the Muslim world not only condemned terrorism and militancy but also considered these actions as contrary to the teachings of Islam.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri further maintained that young generation of the Muslim community had been alienated from their culture, identity, ideology and legacy. He said that acting upon the real teachings of Islam was the need of the hour to get them connected back to Islam. He said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) told us that Islam is a religion of peace, love and forbearance, which has nothing to do with violence, militancy and terrorism. He said that majority of the Muslims believe in respect and love of humanity. He asked the Muslims living in any part of the world to keep playing their positive role in the establishment of peaceful societies.
