Been working through more Houdini tutorials... this time on using Houdini for tasks which under most circumstances would go to After Effects and Cinema 4d. The assignment is to create a UI complete with a holographic spaceship which is drawn-on in a rather tron-esque manner. This test render is of the latter part where the spaceship draws itself on. All the geometry is based on nurbs which allowed me to isolate a ton of curves on the geo's surface using a few hundred carve nodes and foreach loops which are then stamped to randomize their movement, length, position, etc. Then I converted the geo to polys and used the same vopsop color noise trick to give them color, facet to convert to prims and then scaled and deleted based on color value. Hope you like the results... it is after all a work in progress.
