This time-lapse video was produced as a part of a video documentary designed to promote accelerated bridge construction or "ABC". The video compressed an 18 hour "ABC period" of construction to just 3 minutes. It shows the intricate dance of people and machines necessary to complete this task. The west-bound lanes of I-84 just west of the Connecticut border, just into New York state, were closed by NYSDOT at 5PM on Saturday 9/21/13. The demolition of the old (existing) bridge started immediately after 5 PM and then the new bridge (already built and supported by false-work) was installed via a "lateral slide technique". I-84 was reopened approximately 18 hours later on Sunday 9/22/13. The bridge on east-bound lanes was completed a month later using the same method. This method of bridge replacement (on this project alone) saved the taxpayers 2 million dollars and 2 years of construction/detour time. See this link for story: wired.com/autopia/2013/10/abc/
