OASIS is a refreshing stream of consciousness fantasy film of two Russian women dreaming of a place far from the shivering, snow blizzards of Russia.
The film was entirely shot in two days by the attendees of our Basic and Advanced Cine Boot Camps at the Palm Springs Photo Festival.
Each year Jeff Dunas gathers the top instructors so that still and motion picture camera people can expand and improve their imaging skillsets in one of the most aesthetically invigorating locations in Palm Springs. We have the pleasure of holding workshops focusing on the Canon HDSLR as a motion picture camera. Our workshop participants, after they passed Basic Training at Taylor Sherrill's studios, shot 'OASIS' on the grounds of Korakia Pensione, with our beautiful actresses, Kelly Pantaleoni and Tristin Rupp. The underwater filming explored the versatility of the Canon 5D Mark III. Since the buttons on that camera can be reassigned we were able to use a still camera housing, loaned to us by underwater still photographer, Mallory Morrison, to film underwater the scenes of the graceful Kyara Tyler diving through the blue waters of Korakia.
The Korakia, as you can tell, is a stunning location. It is so engaging, it is hard to stop filming at day's end.
As is always the case, at the Palm Springs Photo Festival, a good time was had by all. In fact, you would have to really try hard NOT to have a good time at the Palm Springs Photo Festival. Watch the video. You'll see what we mean.
BTW, check out Bill Lae's stunning green screen compositing on the first scene. And as usual, Bruce Chianese' Composition and Scoring bring a vibrant lustre to 'OASIS'.
