Anna Samson of Jesuit Refugee Service Thailand discusses the work JRS does in Thailand with urban refugees and asylum seekers.
JRS is the primary international NGO in Thailand providing counseling, legal support and financial assistance to urban asylum seekers. JRS is vital in providing people with the basic support so they can live with dignity in the place they are seeking protection.
JRS is one of the few NGOs in Mae Sot, a northern border town in Tak Province, providing direct assistance to Burmese asylum seekers. The Urban Refugee Program in Mae Sot provides counseling, legal assistance and limited emergency financial and medical assistance to Burmese asylum seekers.
